The strike height line was never designed to be curved, bent or irregular, and on many pianos there is no significant variation. The fact that many Steinways have an irregular strike height line is no basis for any theory except that Steinway have paid insufficient attention to their foundry patterns and their castings, as you can tell simply by looking at them.
