Take off your hat, hold it to your chest, bow your head, close your eyes, and say a word of thanks that the piano is now put out of its misery. J Really, although repairs are sometimes possible with broken plates, just about everything is screaming to leave it be. Old piano, low value, strut broken through a screw hole. It's not likely a repair in such a location would be reliable. But if it were, would it be worth the effort and cost? I think not. Don Mannino Hello all. Today the plate on a 1904 Haines Bros. Upright broke. It snapped through on the right hand strut at the top where the strut meets a bolt hole as a horizontal break. It broke through the bolt hole. It is in the bottom-most part of the pin field at the lower edge of the plate. There is material on either side of the hole, enough to repair if repair is possible. What can I do? Thanks, Dennis -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: <http://ptg.org/pipermail/pianotech.php/attachments/20101130/1cd80079/attachment-0001.htm>
