Have a look at www.mailwasher.net . It's a small shareware programs that allows you to have a look at your messages while they are on the server. You can then either delete some or even have them bounce (so the sender gets the message of an invalind email adress) before they get into your computer. I've been using it for years and am quite happy with it.
