[pianotech] Plate removal

I have a customer who has an 1856 Chickering 8'1" grand. It is in pretty
good condition and worth rebuilding, but the pinblock and the soundboard
will have to be replaced. The plate is under the inner rim making it
impossible to get to the plate bolts. In order to restore this piano, the
plate needs to come out. Has anyone tackled this type of plate removal? It
looks like the inner rim with the Rosewood veneer will have to be removed in
order to get to the rim bolts and to be able to lift the plate up and out.
Any experience in this that can be past on?

Thanks,
Hank

God, grant me the serenity to start each day on a joyful note,
The courage to sing the song of my heart,
And the wisdom to trust you to always accompany me.
