Prolube works wonders for those types of issues. But to be honest: I don´t have long term experience with it. No idea how long it really holds. That technique is also good for noise in felt key bushings. Most of used Schimmel uprights have that problem. The bushing is not worn out but makes klick sounds which can be cured by needling. Perhaps they use too much or wrong glue? Other question about leather bushings: what to do against squeaking sounds? I tried teflon or talkum powder, but it seems to help only very short term. I hesitate to use Balistol because it´s liquid. I guess once you have started you have to do it again and again over the years. Any suggestions?
