Hi Allan, Before the advent of bottom covers and string covers it was my standard practice to add an external humidifier to DC systems controlled by the DC humidistat. The humidistat on the external humidifier was set to cycle out before the DC "flipped" into dehumidifying mode. Since bottom covers, back covers for uprights and string covers work extremely well (read better than using an external “add on humidifier”), I no longer bother with the external humidifiers.
