A brace & bit is cumbersome and unwieldy. A little misapplication of
bracing and the bit skates across the plate, gouging off the finish. DAMHIK

A B&B is good for boring holes in lumber by hand.
A ratchet wrench is much more controllable and fits neatly into your tool box.
