I usually refer to it as the damper stop rail. It is a rail, and stops the
damper from going up. "Upstop" seems sort of redundant.

Maybe if we wanted to be more persnickety about it, how about the wooden
felt-lined damper underlever upward motion inhibitor kinetic energy
reverser?
