Tom said: " P.S. If you don't have a table saw --get one ! I used a little 8 1/4" Makita for years before picking up a more serious saw. You'll wonder how you survived without one" Tom et al, I would have to disagree on that one Tom. I have a very good Craftsman (1950-60's), Table saw. It works beautifully. I seldom use it, except to do dimensioning sanding, which is really a cool attachment.<G> My saw of choice is my 40's Boice-Crane Band Saw! I use it almost every day and feel it's more suited to the kind of work we do when making things for pianos. I consider it Safer and more Dangerous, all at the same time. It will make a smaller kerf, less sawdust and not attach your hearing, like the table saw will. Less apt to kick back, etc. For making a good Damper Upstop Rail I'd choose the band saw with a good rip fence and appropriate accessories.<G> BTW, my compliments to Matthew for using the correct terms!<G> Regards, Joe P.S. I hope to see y'all in Vegas!<G> Joe Garrett, R.P.T. (Oregon) Captain, Tool Police Squares R I -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
