Sorry Lou,
I was trying to be funny, but I can see that it could have seemed nasty. There has been discussion about this for as long as I can remember, so I just assume that everyone has heard it before. The archive software just doesn't cope well with formatted text, and the only answer has always been for everyone to send messages in plain text. But as you just discovered, that is not always easy to do, either because of ignorance that such a thing even exists, or even desirable to do because people actually expect that in this day & age they should be able to use different fonts, colours or layout in their messages without wreaking havoc on the system.

My simple mind found irony in the fact that my own advice to use plain text was in fact being sent in "Rich Text" or "HTML" format simply because I replied to your message that had some sort of font formatting applied, and Outlook Express automatically defaults to rich text format when replying to such a message, and I had not checked the format menu myself, proving how easy it is to stray from the recommendation.

So, my answer to your original question "Is this something that can be remedied or adjusted?" should have been:
No. The only way to get easily readable archives using the current software is to get everyone to use plain text, but this solution has proven not to be practical.

Is begging the same as educating? I am ignorant, please enlighten me.

"so there you go, have a word with yourself." What does that mean?

  Peace-

No. You can try begging for people to use plain text, as it seems to be 'Rich Text (HTML)' format that causes problems. But I've just noticed that this very message that I'm replying to is in fact formatted in HTML, so there you go, have a word with yourself.

The existing archive structure often requires scrolling, (side to side) at the bottom of the page, to read the entire sentence.
Is this something that can be remedied or adjusted?
