Twice in recent weeks, I used plain old expanding foam plugs to tune
nasty old pianos in noisy environments (really good funk band rehearsing
in basement, loud TV in common room of seniors' facility) I am amazed at
how much better I could hear the partials, to say nothing of filtering
out the other serious distractions. I can only believe that decent
quality, purpose-designed hearing protection would provide an even
better result.
