So, does this mean I should not be using such terms as runt grands,
embryonic grands, and preemie grands?

Techs don't typically use the term, and if manufacturers were 
selling to techs, they likely wouldn't either. Manufacturers 
sell to dealers, who sell to the public, most of whom 
typically do use the term. I'm still waiting for a couple of 
these "babies" that I service to grow into pianos, but no luck 
yet.
