I'm sorry, the subject is damper cord isn't it... Dumbness. 
Interesting question. I'd think almost anything that can be 
made to fit and not make noise is a contender. It's not a real 
high tech sort of function. As often as it comes up though, a 
yard or two of supply house stuff (which is cored lamp wick) 
ought to last the duration for a couple of bucks investment.
