Dale,

Thanks for the real life recommendation. I will be doing this piano in the next few months as it comes up on the docket. I have much to consider but these sound like a good choice. They will be only my second set from Ronsen. Look forward to letting you know the results.

  Fellow hammerphiles
Steven Hopp asked about a hammer choice recommendation for a C- 7. Steven. I can now recommend this to you.
We installed a new set of the 16 lb. " Weickert Special" hammers on the sapele moldings on a 1976 C-7 from a local church. Its in a large space. Nice board. My Dad sold this to them new. I was yet a kid when I helped deliver it.
The prep was the usual weight prep/tapering protocol etc. & hanging matching closely the weight of the old hammers.
Today I screwed on the action to key frame and slid it into the piano. In my opinion most of you would think the sound to be very attractive. The tenor right thru to note 88 is clear, present and full. All the sustain the board has to offer is immediately available.
The bass is a bit round and may needs some filing and play in & or may be some light stiffening agent but by in large this is an amazing outcome. Overall thsi si great palce to start tone building.
Since I keep having this result I am encouraged and my elbow is happy to escape multiple needling sessions.
Yes I know Ilvedson,...grin..it sounds to good to be true. So any body close enough to me come over and hear it.
As for me,...I'm liking this. Rays making me look good.
 Sincerely
  Dale Erwin
