[pianotech] What kind of wood is this?

It has some qualities that make me think Bubinga. Similar grain patterns...could be stained to look like that piano.

  Ash was my guess too, and rotary (rather than flitch) cut 
  could well produce the pattern. We see something similar on 
  the face veneers of fir plywood, though not nearly as pretty.
