I've only done this job once (about 25 years ago) and had no problem installing the springs, guess I didn't pull hard enough. Maybe having done some needlework helped my judgment. It's always nice to know potential pitfalls of a job, but sometimes they're a little over-rated. My older brother and sister would always have me go down into the basement first--I didn't realize that there were monsters down there... :-) Barbara Richmond, RPT & sacrificial lamb near Peoria, Illinois ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ron Nossaman" <rnossaman at cox.net> To: pianotech at ptg.org Sent: Sunday, August 22, 2010 10:33:39 PM Subject: Re: [pianotech] Spinet Hammer Butt Springs I've done maybe a half dozen of these through the years, all without the rod. It's just not that difficult to line the springs up, even if you have to spend a couple of minutes straightening them up after installation. Finding the committee approved alignment rod before the fact isn't all that much of a deal breaker. Ron N -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
