Nah...if you use the right size phillips head and press hard as you turn it you won't have problems. You don't overtighten, just barely snug. I think it is as good as any for design. I do like the thumbscrew better...What pianos are you referring to for better design? I hate the Kawai thingy on some of their bigger uprights...
