I assume by even FW you mean smoothly graduated. So do you start by setting up a graduated FW pattern and then go back and target the necessary SWs to achieve a uniform DW? Or do you also mean a graduated DW? Is your note 1 the same DW as your note 88? I have been getting the best response, for the least amount of time, by beginning with an even FW and adjusting SW to give an even DW. If the adjustment required of SW is more than .5 gram out of line, then I alter the FW enough to split the difference. I make the decision on where the FW must be on how much hammer I need to swing, but there are limits to how much a key can physically weigh before the pianist begins noticing the inertia. Sometimes it requires a different geometry, which has to stay within certain keydip specs.
