Bell's are usually very nice pianos.

I'm working on one right now. It's has the Illimitable Repeating Action.
I've attached a picture of the jack with a slot in it. It's a real pain to
repair but it does repeat much faster.

That might have been called an accelerated action.
A pain when the cord breaks, but worth the proper fix.
I have seen one, where all the springs were clipped.
It still worked, but not as well.

List,
I slapped a quick tuning on this today. Very nice piano. Has a mix of copper
and iron wrapped bass strings so it's pretty tubby but very solid
otherwise. If there was a buck in it or was owned by a devoted client this
would be a great rebuilding project. It's not unlike the occasional Vose or
Ivers and Pond upright that we see up here in Massachusetts that has somehow
survived our climate in tact.
One feature I did not notice until today. The jack has a hole in which a
silk cord that is attached to the hammer flange engages a jack mounted
spring. Clear as mud right? I'll try and get a picture. This seems to
duplicate or perhaps augment the jack springs job.
