People know cars aren't immortal, so if someone's selling it, 
it likely needs work. People also know pianos *are* immortal, 
and can be made to work just fine with the cheapest tuning a 
few phone calls can find.

I've gotten bum advice from more than one auto mechanic too, 
incidentally.
