First of all 5' 6" does not make a "Baby Grand"! (hate that term, as do most of us I suspect.<G>) >From your description, I would say the piano is toast, (and that is being kind). My recommendation would be to Forget IT and move on to something worthwhile in the rebuilding class. Other suggestion: leave the sentimentality out of it, if at all possible.
