I tune more overdamper pianos than any other kind! There are a few huge and magnificent 1880s Bluther overdamped uprights around here, absolutely massive, and wonderful. Surely the fastest and easiest muting method for overdamped (birdcage) uprights is to use the Papps wedge? It's so easy to place the Papps mute beterrn the unisons and between the trichords by sound and feel. Best regards, David.
