For years, I've also worn these types of hearing protection when I've mowed the yard.? Those gas mowers are loud.? Being a salesman in my past life and always enjoying music, I wanted to be sure I could listen as well as I can for as long as I can.? For mowers, I use the biggest attenuation I can find.? (Similar to those used during pistol shooting) I have heard that 13 or 20 dB attenuation migh allow one to hear more of the partials' effects...? I did find this one at the "featured" web site:? http://earplugstore.stores.yahoo.net/profmusearpl1.html "Here's to Hearing"...?? These are my favorite: http://earplugstore.stores.yahoo.net/ultrafit25.html I wear them religiously when I tune and even when I drive and listen to the radio (it improves sound quality).? Unfortunately, being religious about this, most of my friends and relatives who also tune or play music tend to avoid me or change the topic when I start to preach.? I even have bought these in quantity to pass out for free and no one is interested.? The memories of my grandfather fighting with his hearing aids (while tuning) seem to have faded fast. A little hearing loss doesn't sound like a serious problem, but your hearing damage may come in the form of constant, painful screeching; not a pleasant consequence. Tuning is harmful to hearing!? Wear the plugs! Blaine Hebert -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: <http://ptg.org/pipermail/pianotech.php/attachments/20090905/38d69941/attachment.htm>
