Subject: [pianotech] Pearl River Upright Matthew, More details please, Upright with capstans not dowels ? 42" , 45" 50" piano? Whan you say adjusted letoff, you had to have INCREASED letoff. That is an inportant fact. You may have treated the symptom by introducing excessive letoff instead of fixing the problem. Solid hammer travel? What does that mean ? Lost motion correction is what the capstan regulates. Insufficiant after touch which is a result of the combination of Blow, key dip, lost motion and letoff adjustment may be the answer.. You want the answer when what you need is an understanding of the concept. Check the archives on Yamaha double strike. This was recently and often discussed. Too strong damper springs can be a cause also .
