Wim, I guess they forgot to tell you that you have to use a fabric softener that has been trough a few drying cycles. When new, they hold some kind of gunky waxy stuff. What I do is use a pre-used fabric softener that I damp in lukewarm water. But rubbing alcool is easier to use and leaves less smears.
