I've noticed that sufficient after touch can not be obtained when introducing a 17 mm knuckle radius. A severe (16+ degree) angled capstan has all the lift happening on the front portion of the capstan. When the capstan is reoriented, same position but less angle; the wippen is propelled through a greater distance thus increasing after touch. By reducing the angle to 3 degree or 90 degree, the rear of the capstan lifts the wippen more towards the end of the key stroke, accelerating it more. Maybe accelerating is not the right word but the point of lift does rotate from the front of the capstan and wippen to the rear. -- Regards, Jon Page
