Re: [pianotech] Klavins
Looks like a sail boat to me :)... found the following quote from his
website interesting tho.... under Project III
Cheers
RicB
"David Klavins of Klavins Pianos proposes to revolutionize this
situation with a highly sophisticated piano action using
state-of-the-art materials. Klavins provides 20 years of experience
in piano building, design and maintenance, and contemporary
technologies provide bearings with under 0.1% of the friction of
felt and light metals and plastics with appropriate flexibility but
zero twisting, warping or humidity distortion to replace delicate
wooden parts.
The result is a piano action with unprecedented precision and
durability. Its virtually friction-free construction offers
incalculable advantages to the pianist alongside enormously reduced
maintenance costs. It can be simply installed in any Steinway but
can be built to suit any other grand piano as well."
