Hi Gene
Is this the way the action was originally configured ? With the whippen
rail aligned so that the whippen flange centers are not on a parallel
line to the capstans ? This is a Knabe right ? Any of you guys over
there familiar with Knabes got any good info regarding this ?
You are correct in thinking that the whippens will be lifted differently
across the key-board in the condition you describe below. That is to
say, the capstans will raise equally, but the whippen lever being
positioned differently will respond differently.

Right now, the only thing on the action that is paralell to the
whippen rail is the hammer rail and maybe the back rail. Capstan
line is different in bass and treble by 3mm in relation to the
whippen rail - but the line is straight. Balance rail is also
different. It makes sense that the constant KR - regardless of the
overall key length - would yield a constant rise at the capstan but
if the whippen heals are aligned to the whippen rail they will
differ slightly in alignment with the capstans by 3mm across the
action - changing WW. Am I reading too much into this?
