Adding a thicker back rail cloth means more balance rail punchings to maintain the same height. Try the key elevation at both positions to see how it affects touchweight. There's that elevation thing again Since Hume was a copy of S&S, the key end felt height should be 1 3/8" at rest. That places the underlever at ~1 1/2", so start backwards from there to figure back rail cloth. The height of the backrail does make a difference in touchweight. -- Regards, Jon Page
