Hi As long as we are stumped on Genes situation for the moment, I thought I'd put out a question of my own. Would very much appreciate getting some thoughts. I have a hammer replacement job of my own going on, and due to low budjet the ratio is going to be left as is. It is about a 6.2 Stanwood. I've lots of reason to think this thing has been tinkered with before and wonder a bit about the rest position I'm looking at for keys. At full dip they are level. And the capstans are tilted backwards about 20-25 degrees. This is a Hume grand from early 1900's. Looks like a fair amount of punchings under the fronts as well. 6 mm felts, total of around 11 mm in the whites and 15 under the blacks. Just getting ready to polish key pins and am looking at replacing the back rail felt with something a bit thicker... this would lessen the start angle of the capstans a bit... and they've been digging into the whippen cushions. Thoughts ? RicB
