[pianotech] Yamaha C3

Matthew,
Dislodged pitman that connects the undelever to the tray.
Sometimes happens when the lyre is removed and replaced (As in a move),or if the Damper upstop rail is too high and or the pin that sticks out of the dowel is too short. Combined with vigorous pedaling the tray can fly above the pin and when it returns the tray sits on top of the pin.
A good idea when this happens is to remove the action and look. You can also disconnect the brass rod from the back of the pedal , rotate the L-shaped thing that holds the underlever ,lower the underlever and the dowel will hit you in the head. Then using the Braille method insert the dowel into the hole in the tray ,swing the underlever up to engage the dowel ,rotate the L-thingee back and reinsert the brass rod.Of course adjusting the upstop will require taking the action out.
On a C3 either of these options takes about two minutes.

Thanks a lot for the help with the U1. I am also facing another issue.

Went to service a Yamaha C3 and found that all the dampers were off the strings. They were all uniform, but not one felt was contacting the string when the pedal was at rest.

What is wrong with this picture?
