I'm trying your experiment right now on an old music desk with the same 
finish probs.  waiting for the blush stuff to dry.

Those satin wood finishes are often a poly base with a lacquer coating. 
Try wiping it down with Naphtha to remove any oil residue and then 
spraying a small area with blush eliminator.

What do I do with a light walnut satin poly Kawai where the finish is 
cloudy. If this were a lacquer finish it looks like too much moisture in 
the material. But this is happening on a 15 year old piano. It looks like 
dust, but it won't rub off.
