Petrof 7'-0" Versus Kawai RX-6 (7'-0")

I sold both piano brands at my store. The Petrof for a short time, the Kawai for many years. No comparison in the finished product. The Petrof is a technician's piano.... It more often needs a technician.

I have limited experience with Petrof, but have worked on literally thousands of Kawais. They are built with great consistency, the actions are easy to work on, and the tone is warm. The RX 6 is a nice instrument.

As I've stated more than once, having a very accessible tech support department and great warranty policies, it's hard to go wrong with them.

  Bruce:

I'm sure someone has more useful information than me, but here goes... In my experience I have found the Petrof products to be unreliable at best. I keep my dealer affiliations minimal, but 4 of the dealers that I have contracted with have had Petrof products at one time or another. All 4 have dropped Petrof quickly! The best thing in my opinion about Petroff is the finish. The scaling is atrocious in most of the instruments that I have dealt with. I recall having a PTG chapter meeting at a store of one of the Petrof dealers. The meeting was disrupted many times=2 0by the sound of snapping bass strings. I was told later that the dealer had to send back a shipment of 6 grands because of this problem. I have a few in town that I service, and feel that they are just not what they should be. They might not be the worse piano on the market but I would never recommend the purchase of one. I would stick with the Kawai!

    Hello everyone.

Have a client who is shopping for a NEW 7’-0” piano.

Anyone like to comment on a Petrof 7’-0” (not certain of model) versus a Kawai RX-6 (7’-0”)?

    Cheers,
