Subject: [pianotech] William Rolfe Pianoforte
Listees, A lady called me today asking me about the square piano she has
had in the family forever, a William Rolfe. She said that they found a
serial number, #3968. She claims that it may be 200 years old. She wanted
to know if it had any historical value, such as to a museum, or a collector.
She said that she would try to send pictures of it to me, but she would need
help, as she was not computer savvy enough to do it by herself.
Anybody know anything about these pianos? Anne Acker, are you out
there?
I do know that from Goggle Searching, one website from the UK came up
that had one in a collection, serial number #5929, which they said was made
c. 1812, so 200 years old is not out of the question, if their date is
accurate. Anybody have a clue?
