Richard, In the past, I have found Schimmel tuning pin torque to be somewhat on the easy side. This torque together with very good string rederring have made Shcimmels a pleasure to tune. I have not found these pins to get loose with time. Around 3 years ago, suddenly the pins on new Schimmels became very tight, almost like Baldwins. At least the rederring is still good, but they are no longer a pleasure to tune. Maybe some techs complained that tuning should not be a pleasure, and we should suffer!! If the pins are not slipping, just enjoy the tuning. I don't want to ca the block, or start tapping them in, (the problem is not that severe). Could this be a warranty issue? Is this a normal characteristic with this brand?
