Well, one might be able to pull it out, but getting it back in is another story. The Wurlitzer hinge pins are skinny little things that are prone to bending (my experience). That's why I decided to prop-up instead of pull.

I would say that by the time you have gone out to your car and returned, you could have pulled that hinge pin out! If the first time it has to be pulled from the back put it back so that it can be pulled from the front.
