RE: Car Signs (Pros/Cons)You folks are making me appreciate my sign-maker more and more. She didn't charge me near what y'all have paid, and she does superb work, all original design, great sparkley vinyl, and never a bit of problem with adhesion loss. I guess I need to call her up and thank her again! I love looking in the rearview mirror and seeing my ad following me around. (Well, when it was still there, I did. <g> I'll get it replaced once winter ends. It will end, won't it? Eventually?) Your assessment of magnetic and in-window signs is spot-on, Alan. Magnetic signs always make me think of folks who "pave" driveways with black paint. Here is my personal $0.02 worth of observation, based on personal experience: 1. Unless you work and park in very sleazy areas, quit obsessing about the potential problems of theft, etc., or join the Worrywarts Club. 2. Forget magnetic signs or "in the window" signs. They look cheap, they are cheap, they say "CHEAP". 3. If it is primarily your business vehicle, go to a quality sign shop and and have professional vinyl lettering on both sides and the back. It looks good, it's kinda cheap (maybe $2-300), and it says "DEDICATED, FULL-TIME PROFESSIONAL". You will FEEL more professional, just having it. People will compliment the look. People will call you. 4. It will bring you business and pay for itself almost immediately. I do business from a small pick-up (Ford Ranger); the tailgate is great ad space. I have gotten phone calls from people who tell me they are right behind me on the highway or at a traffic signal, etc. Alan Barnard Salem, MO ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Original message From: "Matthew Todd" To: pianotech at ptg.org Received: 3/5/2008 12:21:52 PM Subject: Car Signs (Pros/Cons) Greetings list, I have been shopping around for a magnetic sign to place on each side of my car. What has been your experiences with this method? I prefer magnetic so I can take it off when my car is sitting for a period of time so no one will see that I have tools to steal. But then, if I got into an accident, would having the sign be more liability for me? Or am I just worrying too much. I also would like to know if your business has increased because of the signs.
