access to the list open to the public?

This is an open list for piano technicians (PTG members or not). This
has been true since the list was created over a decade ago. PTG provides
the resources which run this list as a public service to all piano technicians.

There is another list, ptg-l at ptg.org, which is for PTG members only (if
you try to join it, a the admin-of-the-week looks you up in the PTG
directory before approving it). The ptg-l list tends to host discussions
about PTG policies, bylaws, opinions on how PTG should work, etc.

Another list worth mentioning is the caut at ptg.org list, which is another
open list provided as a public service by PTG for College and University
Technicians. It is quite an active list and does a very good job keeping
posts on-topic.

Finally, there's pianotech-ot at ptg.org for when you feel you must post
something unrelated to pianos (the "ot" stands for "off topic"). People
interested in reading off-topic posts should join that list, although
no matter how many times I tell people about pianotech-ot, someone always
turns up who feels their off topic post must be sent to pianotech. But
then the rest of you usually do a good job setting the poster straight!

Hope this summary helped,
