Out wasn't ever a big problem, and I've used my 3/8", or 1/2"
VSR for that.

"In" is where the problem lies (always being lied to, it
seems). Using a continuous torque drill motor, any bit I used
tended to walk out of the slot, since I couldn't maintain
alignment of the bit with the screw perfectly. The impact
allows a whole lot of "reseats" per minute between impacts so
the bit doesn't walk out. I love freebies.
