When I look up the Lincoln College and also Metropolitan University websites, I don't find any mention of piano tech courses. I'm curious what makes you say there are such - maybe I'm just not looking at the right place, but are you sure the courses are indeed up and running?

Best regards,

There is not a course in piano technology at the Royal Northern College of Music, so far as I am aware. Perhaps Alicia means a piano teaching course?

It's good to see that Lincoln College (formerly Newark College) seem to be running their piano tuning and technology course again after a gap. It and the London Metropolitan University (formerly london College of Furniture) course are the only two piano technology courses left in the UK, apart from the specialised course for the visually impaired at Hereford.

I'm sure there is no age bar on this list! One of the nice things about this place is the willingness of some very wise and experienced professionals to share their knowledge and experience with others who are keen to learn.

The Samick uprights I have comed across are perfectly respectable of their type - certainly comparing well with the smaller of the Kemble/Yamahas put together in England.

There is a broad discussion to be had, perhaps in another thread, about the dying out of piano technology in the UK along with the demise of the piano-making industry here.

Best regards,

David.
