Dean, Here's how I got an old Bosey apart. I latter smoothed out the break in the plate with a grinder. Using a straight piece of hardwood as a fence I sawed off the interfering cabinetry and re-attached later with screws as seen in most pianos. I got all set to pull the plate but then I spotted another place where the plate was tucked into the cabinet. Now I'm all set, right? Nope. Got the back end lifted about 5 inches but the front end wouldn't budge. I'm thinking it has been glued to the pin block. On closer examination I barely saw on the treble end that the bottom of the front flange extended under the big piece of oak. Great! More cutting. But it finally came. I made parallel cuts with a circular saw then chiseled out chunks. I was finally able to get a pry bar under the oak to pry against the hidden plate flange and the whole front piece popped off. It wasn't pretty but it worked. You can see on the right where I drilled into the oak with a 1.25" spade bit to try to see what was going on and how far the flange extended. It did show me how deep I needed to set my circular saw blade. They really didn't want this puppy to come out. It's probably old hat to some of you but it is the most embedded one I've run across (not that I've pulled that many plates- maybe 3 or 4 dozen). Hopefully now it will come out. I post the pictures for your general amusement and as a warning to the faint of heart who are thinking about rebuilding a same era Hallet Davis.
