Filling fingernail gouges in sides of keys

David,

The best way I know is taking down the sides and gluing on new veneer before 
new key tops. I have never tried it while trying to preserve existing new 
tops. When there have been just a few, I have used wood filler, but it's not 
long term and not the best fix.
