Hi Gregor,

The clamps you reference, I would find to be unpredictable. Spurlock cauls
are what we use with exacting consistent results.

Hello everyone,

I am rebushing a set of keys for a Chickering grand and the balance pin
holes are an odd size and do not fit any of my Spurlock cauls.

What do you do in this situation? Do you special order cauls or can you make
them yourself?

I quickly made a set of mortise sizing cauls out of maple and so far they
have worked good. I now have to make the key bushing cauls I and II. I will
be using maple again because it is all I have and I find it easy to work
with. I hope this is a good way to do this or if anyone has any other
suggestions please let me know.

Regards,

Jack Houweling
