Sorry about your broken tuning pin. I don't have any other ideas not already offered to remove it, but I do have a bitch or two. What is it about Chinese built pianos and obscene tuning pin torque? I've tuned a Hallet-Davis grand, and a Cable-Nelson vertical this week, both of which had pin torques just short of the "twist 'em off" range. Nearly every pin in both pianoids snapped and jumped when it finally moved in the block after cranking the pin a considerable degree. This somehow seems to be a feature. The Cable-Nelson, and a Kawai from a couple of weeks back, also displayed the increasingly popular 60 lb. one piece articulated front/fall board combination with no handles and a slick polyester finish. Probably won a design award. Tuning is getting less enjoyable every year. Ron N
