tight pins

You can turn out the pins, remove the becket, turn it out 5 or six turns
and bang it in again. Time consuming for a whole piano and doesn't
necessarily eliminate jumping pins. But it will loosen the grip a bit.

I tuned a K &c today with impossibly tight pins... Fortunately none
    broke,
but what do you do to get some of the tightness out without wrecking pin
block. Lots of snapping, too. Do I just jerk them back and forth
    several
times? Concerns me just a bit.
    thanks
