There are tons of good pianos like that, including the Steck and the 
Gotha Steck, which is regarded as one of the best uprights ever made. 
I don't know the American-made Weber but the Webers made in England 
in the early 1900s (under Wolfenden's supervision) were very fine.

Strings break either through rust and ill-treatment or through poor 
design.  You can probably exclude poor design in this case and 
therefore, unless you treat it badly, it will give no problems at 
440cps if you restring it.
