Decapping bridges with a router

What age is the piano you have in mind for this procedure? 
Admittedly I only touch pianos of a certain age but I've never come 
across one yet where it has not been possible to remove the bridge 
cap intact using alcohol and a suitable selection of knives and rods. 
I imagine the same method could be used on a good proportion of later 
pianos too.
