I'm rebuilding a Knabe, and I found the same thing after the mover grunts removed the plate (I wasn't there for that). I'm assuming its a shim that goes between the plate and the belly rail at the bass break, however, I haven't looked to see yet. I threw it in the parts box for plate installation day.
