Self-employed techs

Admittedly, my interest is in tax savings more than personal liability
issues. Self employed people get screwed-but don't get me started.

Hi David,

I realize my comments here will lack any specifics, but FWIW, my new
accountant suggested that I form an S-corp rather than an LLC. I had
formerly been a sole proprietor. I believe there was a tax savings and
better liability protection to make this change - and the S-corp was better
than the LLC. Again, I realize this doesn't adequately answer your question,
but maybe at least suggests that you are on the right path to be looking
into this. Talk to your accountant - and if they don't know anything more
about it than me, I would strongly suggest that you find another!

I just don't understand the specifics of all that. I feel like my plate is
full enough trying to get a handle on soundboard impedance and mass and
stiffness, etc., etc.

Hope this helps.

Has anyone explored the differences between forming an LLC and an S
Corporation and the benefits of going that route as opposed to a simple sole
proprietorship?

If anyone can direct me to good literature or share their own experiences on
the subject, I'd appreciate it.
