My bait of choice is a pumpkin seed. You can lodge it under the prongs of
the trigger to make it difficult to steal.

Hey Stéphane,

I had to deal with mice when my husband and I lived in Texas.   Mice attract

snakes, so we had to deal with snakes, too.  Oh, boy!  After we tried all 
the nice stuff, all-out war was declared and we went to traps.  They were 
able to steal the cheese or lick the peanut butter off without setting off 
the trap.  I ended up <tying> cheese to the trap with thread.  That worked.
